The amount of Malaysians who suffer from diabetes is getting enormous. First it was 15% of the whole population. Most doctors now expect that it is almost 20% by now. With this number, they do not take into account the people who live in villages and the mainland whom are not officially diagnosed. So, actually, the number is higher than this. The government finds it difficult to change this. They have two perspectives that they need to take into account.

Malaysian Economy And Diabetes

Health is important, but for Malaysia the economy is also. They want to be a developed nation in 2025. They are working on this very hard, but with this come negative other results. The Malaysian food is already bad for the health. It contains a lot of sugar and carbohydrates, but just a little bit of vegetables. That it the reason why they need to take action. But, instead of doing that, they want to stimulate the economy. So what is happening?

The government lets companies open up more restaurants. Especially fast food restaurants whom have bad food. There are a lot of MC Donalds and Burger King's in Malaysia. This is not good for the health of the population. But from an economic perspective, they are good for the economy.

The government really needs to sort things out. They need to take care of their citizens, that is their priority. Not the economy. Why do Malaysian want a better economy? To have a better life for their citizens right? Why not start there, and get a better economy from that point? That is a better solution for the Malaysians.
